A Night of Fashion: Dymes Only

Dymes Only

The beginning of Mercedes Benz Fashion week in New York kicked off last week and one of many fashion shows we attended to start off with was none other than that of Queen’s own designer line Dymes Only . The line is a female urban apparel line created by a team of three beautiful women by the names of Elisa Burton, Kenashia Douglas (Singer Ashanti’s sister, Presidency LLC) , and Sakara Barnes (Owner and Creative Management). The fashion event took place at Highline Loft located near the beautiful Highline Park Bridge in Chelsea. The event was lively with music provided by the popular lady Coco the DJ ( www.cocorobert.com) of media like MTV and VH1 . When we entered into the venue the crowd was everywhere, you came into the entrance and saw the red carpet and backdrop filled with cameras flashing constantly. As you moved through out the loft , you were met with models posing in the new lines designer apparel while either standing on small display stages or sitting on elegant white leather interior. The open bar was crowded as it is known to be. There also was a booth provided for funny faces photography. I personally would like to say it was great to see fellow Queens native’s doing great things on a large scale and how professional the event turned out to be. However I realized as I watched the crowd that not all were taught etiquette on how to act at lavish event such as this one, now ponder on that.
While walking among-st the crowd we were able to experience the diversity within the designer line. The models ranged in races from Asian,Caucasian, Indian, Latina and African American. In our opinion even though the line is urban the consumer does not have to be and we applaud Dymes Only for orchestrating that in every aspect of their event. The event was filled with young tastemakers such as Delano Brown (artist), Jadon Hunt (child model), Janelle Fletcher (model), Nilson Martinez (director for T-Rivera by Tammy Rivera), Nyemiah Supreme (rap artist, Oxygen HipHop Sisterhood) and a host of bloggers, socialites and others in attendance.
The Dymes Only event was sponsored by Hennessy V.S, baked goods were provided by Kira’s Kupcake Kafe (www.kiraskupcakekafe.bigcartel.com) and the event was coordinated by The Eventologist ( www.theventologist.com)
